Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the controversial Kardashian-Jenner siblings is once again facing a massive unexpected issue. Her fashion brand KHY by Kylie is currently facing a plagiarism accusation for the dress she just dropped last week. So, what happened and did she really steal the dress design? And which designer involved in this accusation? Dive deep into this plagiarism accusation in the following report.
KHY By Kylie and Nike x Jacquemus Releases Similar Dress
The global fashion industry is in massive surprise after KHY by Kylie Jenner and Nike x Jacquemus releases a product with excruciatingly similar design.
Last week, KHY by Kylie Jenner released a stunning dress product called drop 004. It’s is a one-shoulder, form-fitting midi dress, featuring an asymmetric neckline with a single short sleeve and a twirl detail on the shoulder.
While the dress itself was impeccably stunning, fashion enthusiast noticed few features from this dress that were strikingly similar to a product by Nike x Jacquemus. As we all know, Nike and Jacquemus have collaborated on various breakthrough designs, including the Air Max 1 and the iconic Swoosh Bag.
Yet, what’s gaining attention was their alluring release of La robe drapée, released almost at the same time as KHY’s drop 004.
While it may not be exactly the same, both dresses similarly feature asymmetric necklines, single short sleeves, and shoulder twirls. The designs look intriguingly similar especially when showcased by models.
Was It REALLY a Stolen Design? From Which Designer?
Due to its striking similarities, global fashion enthusiasts raised suspicions that KHY by Kylie has stolen the dress design from Nike x Jacquemus. The internet started condemning KHY, raising the issues on various social media, including Reddit and X (formerly Twitter).
MORE Similarities
At the same time, the public also pointed out that instead of stealing the design from Nike x Jacquemus, the dress’ designs from both brands featured similarities from other brand: JOHANSEN. It’s an Australian fashion brand by designer Jessica Johansen-Bell.
In fact, Jessica personally raises the issue on her social media. She posted a video on TikTok, questioning the similarities between KHY’s dress with the entire collection she released 3 to 4 years ago. In fact, KHY’s drop 004 showcases similarities with JOHANSEN’s Poppy dress.
So now, the question is: did KHY by Kylie really steal the design? And if yes, did she copy the dress from Nike x Jacquemus or from JOHANSEN instead?
In an official reply they sent to JOHANSEN, KHY by Kylie denied the plagiarism accusation. Instead, they claimed that the new drop 004 design was originally created by their team.
“We developed these designs through our team’s hard work and innovation.”
